About Muraho.com
Muraho.com is a project conceived on a mission trip. In August 2009, a team of eleven from The Falls Church (Falls Church, Virginia) traveled to Rwanda for two weeks, including one week in Musanze, the seat of the Anglican Diocese of Shyira. The team stayed at the wonderful Ishema Hotel – the Guest House of the Diocese – located next to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. On the first morning of this visit, the members of the team met with old friends – the ladies of The Mothers' Union and their leader, Pastor Agnes Kamashara. In a meeting filled with song, dance and personal testimonies, God gave us a vision of a business that would enhance the ladies' incomes, bring the products of their tremendous talents in creating crafts to the USA, and strengthen the ties that bind us together across continents.
With the support of Shyira's visionary diocesan bishop, Bishop John Rucyahana and his energetic wife Harriet, we planned the business during the remainder of our time together in Musanze. In the ensuing two months, we worked together by email to establish a product line, incorporate a non–profit business, and bring this web site to fruition. It has been a celebration of diverse talents – craftsmanship, business, leadership, communications, photography, design, technical skills – but most of all, an inspirational example of what can happen when people unite in serving God and each other.
Please enjoy browsing Muraho.com's unique products brought to you, our friends, from a group of friends – the people of Shyira Diocese and the people of The Falls Church.
